A Revolution Is A Dramatic And Wide Reaching Change

A revolution is a dramatic and wide-reaching change in the way something works or is organized or in people s ideas about it. Mankind has experienced three life changing revolutions that Yuval Noah Harari discusses in his book Sapiens. There has been a cognitive, an agricultural, and a scientific revolution, and now Nick Bostrom explores in his book, Superintelligence, how life would advance with a fourth one, a transhuman revolution. Finding the right path to artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to advancements for humankind that in relation to the past three revolutions could result in the start of a new journey, or in the end of the life humans now know. In relation to the previous three revolutions, the transhuman revolution will share many similarities in the patterns that occurred in each revolution. The main foundation of any revolution is cooperation, curiosity, and creativity by the people, and that serves to be true for the agricultural, cognitive, and scientific revolutions and will be a main platform for the transhuman revolution as well. Along with this, each past revolution has undergone an increase in collective intelligence. Bostrom proves this when he states, â€Å"Humanity has gained enormously in collective intelligence over the course of history and prehistory. I believe, I will follow my grandmother’s example because from my childhood I am kind, responsible and strive to help people. I always wished, nobody should be upset. Therefore, when I saw sad person, I approached to him/her, tried to understand situation and attempted to help. Later on, I become part of different communities such as School Parliament, International Organization â€Å"Dance4Life†, Students’ Community â€Å"Enactus†, and some others. Most of my time I spent in School Parliament, so I will tell more about its activities. This little school organization took responsibilities for almost all events in school and some activities outside it. We regularly took part in charity for orphanage, support disabled people of our school, entertained people that had oncologic diseases, and conducted some events. We helped one family to collect some amount of money to child’s operation by selling some ribbons and conducting few times charity events. It was one of the biggest deals that we did in school time ourselves. After pupil’s operation, his parents thanked us and appreciated our activities. Thus, as studying in high school we started to participate in solving some problems outside of our lives, to help others, to improve surrounding people’s lives and performed as Global Citizens. Thereby, everybody can become a Global Citizen despite age, gender, and region. To be a Global Citizen means to take actions and fulfil some duties in order to improve someone’s life. Global Citizenship should not be focused on scale of an action because helping people starts from little steps, from helping even one unknown person. Therefore, most of people, who are helping others that need a support, can be considered as Global Citizens. The majority of these human beings understand that they somehow may effect on people, who live on the other side of the Earth. Thus, they think broadly and care about surrounding people and nature.

The Bedroom by Vincent Van Gogh Although viewing a painting by definition, includes the process of visual perception, it is not limited to the eye of the beholder. I have chosen to look at Van Goghs 1888 oil on canvas painting, The Bedroom. What one sees in any image is colored by a plethora of factors that inform the viewer- consciously and unconsciously. Thus, Platos argument about the objectivety of art, its quantifiable ability to be Judged is based on a flimsy, static version of human beings. But, it is equally strange to pretend that an image is merely a subjective xperience, as though the context, history, and intention were not part of the process. Van Gogh painted, The Bedroom three times; two times after the first painting was damaged. The paintings are almost identical with slight changes in tone and color. The first, my favorite, is housed in the Van Gogh Museam in Amsterdam. However, more significantly, the first painting was done in September 18881 and the following two were painted in September or October of 1889. Van Gogh, took his own life on July 29, 1890. And so, there is a context to this painting that includes the fact that he painted it two more times and that the original was done less than two years before his death. According to Art Historian, Debra Mancoff, Wan Gogh himself said that his approch in The Bedroom, was simple, intended to give weight and gravity to the subject while evoking the sense of restful sleep.
