They fell in love and later on married. Soon after Adrian Monk became a detective for the San Francisco patrol Department. He was one of the silk hat detectives they had ever had, and it was all because of his disability. His OCD allowed him to chip in an excellent eye for detail, and he also had a photographic memory which helped him to memorize the hatred scenes. Sadly, tragedy struck.
